The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey (from bookmooch)
Inspector Alan Grant of Scotland Yard, recuperating from a broken leg, becomes fascinated with a contemporary portrait of Richard III that bears no resemblance to the Wicked Uncle of history. Could such a sensitive, noble face actually belong to one of the world’s most heinous villains — a venomous hunchback who may have killed his brother’s children to make his crown secure? Or could Richard have been the victim, turned into a monster by the usurpers of England’s throne? Grant determines to find out once and for all, with the help of the British Museum and an American scholar, what kind of man Richard Plantagenet really was and who killed the Little Princes in the Tower.

Dragonfly In Amber (Outlander:2) by Diana Gabaldon (from bookmooch)
For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland’s majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones…about a love that transcends the boundaries of time…and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his ….
Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire’s spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart …in a race to thwart a doomed Highlands uprising…and in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves….

I noticed that I haven’t done any personal blogging for awhile but there haven’t been anything to tell about. I haven’t been to any concert either but there’s Finnish Metal Expo later this month.
Went to shopping on monday and all I found was this one bag. But it’s cute! And I haven’t bought a one in long time…

Suska promised to dye my hair on Friday. Finally!
I heard this week that one of my former classmate died last month. We weren’t close, truth be told I hated her, but it was still really shocking. There had been small thing about it in the magazine but I hadn’t read it. It said that she was found outside in the morning and there had been around -20 C in the night and appearantly she had taken something but it didn’t say what. Not sure if she was frozen to death or if she died before that.
And I just noticed I uploaded different avatar than I was meant to, but I’m too lazy to change that…

He’d never actually come right out before and said he was a mercenary, though of course she’d understood he was either that or something close to it. People hired him to make things happen was what he’d said, and she hadn’t for one minute thought he was talking corporate takeovers.

Polgara the Sorceress by David Eddings (from bookmooch)
She soars above a world of warriors, kings, and priests. The daughter of Belgarath and the shape-shifter Poledra, she has fought wars, plotted palace coups, and worked her powerful magic for three thousand years. Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the saga that is the Eddings’ Belgariad and Mallorean cycles.
Her hair streaked white by her father’s first touch, her mind guided by a mother she will not see again for centuries, Polgara begins life in her Uncle Beldin’s tower, and in the prehistorical, magical Tree that stands in the middle of the Vale. There, she first learns the reaches of her powers. There she assumes the bird shapes that will serve her on her adventures. And there she starts on the path toward her destiny as Duchess of Erat, shepherdess of the cause of good, adversary of Torak the One-Eyed Dragon God, and guardian of the world’s last, best hope: the heir to the Rivan throne.

The Perkin Warbeck Conspiracy by Ian Arthurson (bought)
Perkin Warbeck, pretender to the English throne, claimed to be Richard, Duke of York, the younger of the two sons of Edward IV murdered in the Tower. This book looks at who Perkin Warbeck was, how he was used by those in power in Burgundy, France, Italy, Scotland and Ireland, and the progress of the conspiracy itself. It reveals how close the conspirators came to bringing about a fundamental change in the sway of European politics, and how Perkin Warbeck was used by those in power to further their own ends. Importantly, Arthurson not only sets the plot within the context of what was going on in fifteenth-century European politics, but also reveals new truths about Henry VII’s reign.

The Sunne In Splendour by Sharon Kay Penman (bought)
Caught in the vicious power struggle that history has called The War of the Roses, Richard had been raised in the shadow of his charismatic brother Edward. At nineteen and against all odds, Edward had defeated the House of Lancaster and claimed the English throne for York. Famous for his sensual appetites and his preference for the expedient over the correct, Edward nonetheless found in his younger brother Richard an unfailingly loyal ally.
Richard himself was repaid for his allegiance; he was denied nothing, except the one thing he wanted most in life – the right to wed the woman he adored, Anne Neville. Their love would haunt them both, and add to the tragedy of Richard’s eventual defeat at the hands of the Tudors.

Mary, Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley by Alison Weir (from bookmooch)
Handsome, accomplished, and charming, Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, staked his claim to the English throne by marrying Mary Stuart, who herself claimed to be the Queen of England. It was not long before Mary discovered that her new husband was interested only in securing sovereign power for himself. Then, on February 10, 1567, an explosion at his lodgings left Darnley dead; the intrigue thickened after it was discovered that he had apparently been suffocated before the blast.

Lady Anne’s Dangerous Man by Jeane Westin (from bookmooch)
Lady Anne Gascoigne is eager to take her wedding vows-until she discovers her devious fiancé has conspired to let King Charles II steal her virtue. Now, to save her honor and her life, she must flee under the protection of a notorious but charming rake who has just escaped hanging-and proceeds to win her heart.
